jake is currently an intern at integrity. jake is a student at ecu studying construction management. he graduates may 2010 and is considering the pastorate full-time. he is gaining valuable ministry experience as a gofer for ben. jake helps tremendously with all things administration. he delegates the responsibilities of setup for church, serving, community outreach, and basic organization for the church. he is also responsible for handling the finances of the church.

why do you want to minister at integrity?

well, at first i wasn’t sure. but after getting to know the family of integrity, after getting to know the vision, ben’s heart for greenville … honestly, it was a no brainer. i spent many years searching for a church in greenville that had solid bible teaching, with a strong focus on the gospel. that was a fruitless search for me for many years. i’m greatful for ben and his heart to plant a church here. i want to see that succeed. so i want to be part of this.

what’s the worst food you’ve ever eaten?

i went to a thai restaurant and ordered the special. i received a raw fish. it was whole, it wasn’t cut up. it was dead but it was the entire thing. he just looked up at me. here’s the crazy part … i actually tried to eat it. lets just say it was nasty.

do you have any hobbies?

i love to fish. especially in southport, n.c. king mackerel are awesome down there. any offshore fishing. just give me a rod, some reel, and some dramimine … and i’m lovi’n life. in addition i love to read. especially theology books. some of my favorite authors are: john piper, jerry bridges, mark driscoll, and j.i. packer.

who would you most like to meet?

i’m always interested to meet men who hold to their convictions under extreme circustances without compromise. i think of missionaries like george mueller, spurgeon, martin luther and missionary’s jim elliott and hudson.

If you had two weeks to live … what places would you want to visit?

the oregon coastline and yosemite national park because i love it out there. its just beautiful. its an overwhelming place. it helps give me perspective on how small i am and how big God is. not because He is creation, but because i’d want to be really focused on the greatness of God.
